Location & Accessibility
Situated on the eastern side of Heathrow, the Moxy is well positioned for Terminal 2/3 Flights; but ultimately my journey to Terminal 5 from the Moxy only took around 11 minutes in an Uber. For those familiar with Heathrow, most airport hotels are based on “Bath Road” on the northern side of the airport. With the exception of the Hilton Garden Inn at T3 and the Sofitel at T5, and maybe one or two others; 10-15 minutes to the airport from your hotel is pretty standard for the area.
Check-In Experience
I checked in around 9 p.m. on a Wednesday night, greeted by a brightly illuminated neon “Check-In” sign—very on-brand for the hotel’s airport theme. And seriously, the lobby wall installation as you walk in is worth a look.

While I could have checked in via the app up to 24 hours in advance, I wasn’t in a rush and wanted to experience the service firsthand. The process was smooth enough, though the front desk staff seemed a little uninterested. That said, they were helpful when I asked about the dining and bar hours.
I would have loved a bit more time to enjoy the lobby bar, which was a significant step up from what you’d expect at a Premier Inn or other budget hotels. With most guests in transit like me, the space had a lively “pre-trip” buzz that added to the experience.
Room Overview
Thankfully, the drinks and music from the lobby didn’t carry up into the rooms, and before long, I was checked in and heading upstairs. I’d booked a Queen Sleeper Room and was assigned the 4th floor out of 6—and for an AvGeek like me, it was a nice surprise to find I had a runway view of landings on Runway 27R.

Right, down to the details. The room was impeccably clean and well presented. The TV greeted me with a personalized welcome message, playing some gentle background music as I stepped inside. The amenities covered the essentials: a hairdryer, plenty of plug sockets and USB options (seriously, a big plus—four USB-A ports, one USB-C, and ample multi-region sockets made charging everything a breeze), a few hangers (but no closet), and, of course, a Do Not Disturb sign.

Despite the compact size, I was perfectly comfortable throughout. I’d have preferred a proper desk chair instead of a small ottoman—getting some work done was possible, but not exactly ergonomic.
The bathroom was simple but tastefully done, with tiled shower walls and a sliding glass door. The water pressure was a little weak, which was a bit of a letdown, but at least it was piping hot.

Facilities & Amenities
The Hotel does have a pretty well equipped gym, bar, grab-and-go snack area – it was also outfitted with umbrellas to rent (first time I’ve seen those, but how outstandingly British)! I did notice an Uber Kiosk, which would be useful if you don’t have data or an uber account when visiting. Overall, I felt that the hotel had most everything you’d need for a layover or brief stay; but would be a bit lacking if you’d chosen to stay there for more than a night or two.
Overall Service Quality
During my brief interaction with the front desk staff I wasn’t exactly wowed, but it was a pleasant enough experience and again, no more, no less than really needed.
Price vs. Value & Recommendation
At just shy of £80 The Moxy offered a considerably improved experience over a comparably priced Budget Hotel. Add in the Bonvoy Promotion, earning points for future stays too- it was a no brainer – and I’d gladly go back there for pre-trip stays even if the price were a little above the Budget places.
